This course focuses on acquiring the ability to read basic Biblical text. Readings will be selected from various books in the Tanach, with instruction in issues of grammar, syntax, and lexicography. This course will examine the daily, weekly, monthly and annual celebrations and ritual practices of Jewish life. Special attention will be given to the formation of Jewish Festivals from Bible to Rabbinic culture, including some elements of liturgical developments as well.
