Scholars' Sabbatical Program

UHL/CSEC welcomes scholars who wish to spend one or two semesters on sabbatical in Jerusalem. Visiting faculty generally conduct a seminar in their area of expertise while having ample time to pursue their own research and writing. UHL is delighted to help in locating suitable accommodations for scholars and their families. In addition, UHL will assist in providing a relationship with local churches and some opportunities for service in congregations for those who desire it.

Junior Year Abroad

Junior Year Abroad Program

UHL cooperates with select undergraduate students wishing to experience the traditional "Junior Year (or Semester) Abroad" in the Holy Land. This is dependent on their ability to attend graduate-level lectures. In such cases, the examinations and research reports are less demanding.

Course selection in this program is the responsibility of the student and his/her home college or university.

Continuing education

Continuing Education (CE)

Continuing Education experience is available at UHL, either for audit or credit. This program was established in order to meet the needs of those who desire to study in the land of the Bible without pursuing a higher degree.

The curriculum is the choice of the CE student from current academic course offerings. Students may elect to study for the entire academic year or for a semester at a time. Students who study for one or two years will receive a Certificate in Biblical Studies acknowledging this educational experience, providing they take a minimum of 12 hours per semester.

Candidates for the CE program must have completed high school. This program is particularly suited for lay people who wish to have a solid foundation for their personal study and ministry.

Short Term Studies

Short-Term Studies

UHL is recognized by the Ministry of Tourism as an academic institution authorized to conduct intensive, short-term study programs in the field. One, two, or three-week study-tour options are available for academic credit. UHL makes every effort to work together with group leaders to design the course according to the special interests and needs of the individual group. Suggested itineraries are available upon request.
