Historical Geography of Israel
Historical Geography of the Bible 1: Israel
3 Graduate Credits
This course is designed to familiarize students with the physical stage on which most Biblical events transpired. The country is examined on a regional basis, observing how the character of each region, and the routes which passed through it, influenced the history of the area. Attention will be given to the imagery used by the Biblical writers in connection with each region. Issues in historical geography, natural history, archaeology, ancient texts, and anthropological models are explored.

"Having visited Israel a few times and then having lived there for over a year, I was not sure what to expect with the Historical Geography of Israel study tour. After a couple of days I knew that this study tour was the richest experience I had yet to encounter. Dr. Caessens made Scripture come alive in a way that allowed me to see the biblical events unfold in very realistic terms. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has a desire to see and experience Israel from a biblical and historical perspective – simply amazing!" Dorie Demicell, USA
"I was blessed to be a part of the 3-week summer course 'The Historical Geography of Israel,' organised by the University of the Holy Land. It is an exceptional study experience (academic & practical), suitable for all levels of learners who are specially into Biblical teaching, expository preaching, research, etc. The 'UHL Family' warmly welcomes and embraces the international community who are serious about their faith in the Holy Scriptures and its applicable life style. The extraordinarily energetic and intellectual resource person Dr.Ginger Caessens is an added value who really enriches the program." Obeth Thevanasan, Sri Lanka
